Sleeping In...

BREAKFAST!!!
Last night as I was reading a good book, I felt completely zonked. By 9 o'clock, I was ready for bed, but decided to stay up a little longer (thats the problem with "can't put it down" good books!! ha) until 10. I decided at that point that I would go to bed early and get up later...and I did! It felt so refreshing to wake up a little later this morning..my body definitely needed it. :)

For breakfast I had one of my faves...vanilla hempmilk (heated,) Golden Almond Ezekiel Cereal, and a banana (and also a kiwi on the side, which I ate while packing my dad's lunch.) Sooo tasty! :D In comparison to oatmeal, I don't find it quite as filling, but it does make for a nice change to have once in a while since I love it so much. :)

Looks like another beautiful day outside!! Enjoy! :)

I almost bought some of that cereal in the grocery store last night- but couldn't decide. About how many cups do you have of it?

Happy Tueday!

I was the same way last night! Reading a book around 9:30pm, feeling completely exhausted, haha.

I love doing that... just reading and reading. But I find that even if I love the book I just conk out at one point and wake up an hour later with a book in my hand and the light still on!

What time do you typically go to bed and wake up?

I know you wake up early, how do you prevent yourself from eating lunch super early. I know you have a snack, but I found, I am meal hungry when I get up early and keep noshing. Any tips?

emma---I've been eating the 1/2 cup for a serving, but I'm thinking that 3/4 cup might be better (along with a T. peanut butter) for the really busy days where I do a ton of walking around campus and don't have access to a mid-morning snack. :)

Happy Tuesday to you too! :)

veggiegirl---haha...happy Tuesday to you too!! :) :)

romina---I do the same thing, especially in the afternoon on relaxing weekends. Reading always seems to make me sleepy...

leigh---I typically go to bed at 10 (except for weekends of course) or sometimes 11 or 12 on busy school nights. School mornings, I'm up at 5..I like sleeping in till 6 or 7 whenever I can. :)

I know what you mean about feeling hungry in the morning! I'm the same way. I've found that having a nice hearty breakfast is the best place to start (oatmeal and peanut butter fill me up for the long haul,) and timing has helped too. I just recently started waiting a while before eating breakfast (6 or 6:30 instead of 5) because it keeps me going longer and doesn't leave me wanting lunch at 10. :D

After I eat at 6, I typically eat another protein/carb snack at around 9:00 or 9:30 to carry me through a bit longer. Odwalla snack bars, fruit n' cheese, fruit and nut butter, latte with handful of nuts, 1/2 a pb&j sandwich, yogurt with nuts or seeds...these all help to carry me over for a while.

Lunch is typically at 11 or 12...11 if I'm starving and have time, or 12 if I can wait. Its okay to have an "earlier" lunch, but I think 11 works the best for me, since I'll usually plan on having another snack in the afternoon to carry me to supper. :)

Thanks.......how do you prevent yourself from thinking about your next meal or snack while studying. Studying gets me so bored!

leigh---Ugh...I know..studying can get very boring at times for sure! ha...

What I'm in the mood for changes so much, that I tend to not plan meals/snacks out a whole lot. Suppers, of course, do need some planning if I want all the ingredients or as a way to make sure its going to be balanced and nutritious. And on school days, my snacks/meals are planned out the night before, since I need to take them all with me as I go...:)

Just remember there are a TON of non-food ways to keep yourself motivated through a day of studying...:) My favorite is walking or dancing to music for 15 minutes; it helps wake me up as much as it helps keep me motivated to keep studying. :)
